bruja (BREW-ha) means witch in spanish. witch trials were an excuse to persecute women who were intelligent, independent, or outspoken. la bruja identifies with these women.

i am an independent, outspoken woman who openly practices ceremonial magic. i named this business in homage to my puerto rican heritage, and after all the brave women whose lives were cut short due to witch trials, and who stood for all we stand for.

i started candle-making as a way to de-stress from my 9-5 job as a middle school science teacher. immediately, i was hooked - it synthesized not only my love of art and science, but also my spiritual practices.
i enjoy creating unique designs by varying the color, container, and scent of my candles, and i'm particularly inspired by themes of nature and the human form, as seen through the images I paint on candles and the shapes i mold with wax. I cleanse my space before each candle pour, and infuse positive intentions into each candle.
